If you’ve been following my social media or my blog, you already know that I spend time at Second Chance Animal Rescue in Morinville walking dogs a couple of times a week. Every now and then, I take some of my favourite long-term residents out for a portrait session, hoping to shine a little extra light on them.
My last post featured Chapo and Zane, and I’m happy to say they were both adopted before Christmas. Previous posts included Bowser and Maggie, who were also lucky enough to find their forever homes over the past few months.
Today, I’d like to introduce Oakley, Murphy, Bluey, Micks, and Barbi. They were the others I photographed last fall, and unfortunately, they are still waiting for their forever families. They are currently at the shelter in Morinville, and they truly deserve to experience home life. Shelter life is chaotic, and dogs often live in a near-constant state of arousal, which is hard on them both mentally and emotionally.
They are all incredibly sweet dogs. Yes, a couple are selective with other dogs or aren’t good with cats. They are all larger, energetic dogs, so small kids may get knocked over. That does make finding the right home a little more challenging, but I know their people are out there. Did they ever have fun that evening! New sights, smells and sounds.
Bluey has an adorable snaggle tooth.
Barbi loves to borrow in the snow like a mole.
Murphy likes to lean into your legs for pets and scratches.
Oakley is so smart and sweet.
Micks is a giant sweetheart. ** ADOPTED **
If you’re thinking about fostering or adopting, please check them out on the SCARS website.
Sidenote: none of these dogs were off leash for their portraits. I retouched the leash out. Their sessions were just like any of my regular client sessions.
