Earlier this year, I had the privilege of working with Dogs With Wings Assistance Dog Society, an Edmonton based organization that breeds, trains and places highly skilled assistance dogs with people who need them. Their dogs work in so many different settings, from supporting individuals in their homes to working alongside professionals in hospitals, trauma and victim services, and with first responders.
It was an incredible experience to learn more about the work they do while photographing some truly amazing dogs. These dogs are not simply well trained. They are changing lives, and the people behind their training and placement are doing some pretty remarkable work.
If you have had the pleasure of following Dogs With Wings on social media, you may have already seen a few of my photographs. And now you can see even more of them by purchasing their 2027 calendar! I am very pleased to say that a few of my photographs are included. Needless to say, my family can definitely expect to find a copy in their stockings this year.
The calendars should be available for purchase very soon. I know the Dogs With Wings team is working on getting an online link available, but in the meantime, you will also be able to pick one up directly from their facility at 11343 174 Street NW in Edmonton's west end.
It is also a wonderful opportunity to visit, meet a Dogs With Wings dog, learn more about the organization and find out how you can help. They are always looking for volunteers, including puppy raisers and other people who want to become involved in their programs.
And if you are attending their 30th Anniversary Beyond the Leash Gala on September 19, 2026, you can pick up a calendar there as well. The gala takes place from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton, 16615 109 Avenue NW, Edmonton. You can purchase tickets via their website.
I am so happy to have had the opportunity to contribute a few images to this project and to help showcase just a little bit of the incredible work Dogs With Wings does in our community. Thank you to all the dogs and the raisers that brought them to their sessions. You guys were amazing! You'll have buy a calendar to find out which images made it. ;)
