Everyone knows how important self-care is, and it looks different for everyone. One of my favorite ways to recharge creatively is through personal photography projects. Over the years, these have included trying new techniques, exploring different crafts, or planning photo sessions just for myself.
Photo sessions done just for me are a great way to test lighting setups, try out new locations, or experiment with posing ideas. It is a fun and relaxed way to fine-tune creative concepts before introducing them into a client session.
This is one of those sessions.
Meet Junie. She is my friend’s cat and has been in front of my camera before. She also happens to be the most chill cat I have ever met. She was the perfect subject for a tiny crown and royal cloak. This pet portrait session was a joy to shoot, with no pressure and plenty of playful energy in my St Albert photo studio.
This summer, I have a list of creative photography ideas I want to explore purely for the joy of doing them. No deadlines, no expectations, just the fun of creating. Next up is a session with a little dog who goes to work every day with her person. I have always loved a local business that has an unofficial mascot. Stay tuned for those photos coming soon.
