Happy New Year! I know, I’m a little late to the party now that we’re already well into January.
2025 was a whirlwind. It wasn’t a terrible year, but it wasn’t a great one either. It was a year filled with very mixed emotions. So many of you experienced the loss of your beloved pets, and I know many of you are still navigating the ebbs and flows that grief brings into our lives. If anyone understands, it’s me. It has been 465 days since we said goodbye to Molly. Some days it feels like a hundred years ago, and other days it feels like yesterday. I truly hope 2026 brings you a healthy year with your pets, both the new ones and the old souls who have been by your side for years. Hold on to those beautiful moments.
Last year I launched the Breed of the Month contest, and overall it was a really positive experience. I had the chance to meet and photograph some breeds I hadn’t worked with before, or had only encountered once or twice in my career as a pet photographer. I’m looking forward to relaunching the contest this February with some new breeds, and I’m planning to mix things up a bit. This year I’d love to include mixed breeds and some wonderfully unique characters. I may also re-list a couple of breeds from last year, as the winners never booked and I still haven’t had the chance to meet them.
Once again, I’ll be offering my VIP (Very Important Pup) Mom package in the spring. It’s the perfect opportunity to step in front of the camera with your dog and create meaningful portraits together. For those who aren’t familiar with my Dog Mom event, this is the only sale I offer all year. There are no fall minis or surprise discounts. Just one annual offering. The package is available for a limited time in the spring, and once purchased, you can book your session anytime before the end of the year. Expect the launch in April.
I’d love to say I’ve made big resolutions or exciting plans for the year ahead, but I haven’t. And honestly, I’m okay with that. I’m keeping my goals simple and much the same as last year. The world already feels chaotic enough, and I don’t need to add extra pressure to my life. There are no price increases planned, no big marketing pushes, and no promises to suddenly be consistent on social media. As always, I’ll get there when I get there.
Here’s to a year of slowing down, spending quality time with your pets, and making memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Cheers to 2026.
And a thank you to my wild life photographer friend, Colton. He got some great shots of me and my little family. We didn't make it easy. Haha! Check out his amazing work.
